Barnes Hits the Big Time

The first wave of stories on Barnes' statement that he got the young George Bush in the champagne unit in the Texas national guard during Vietnam didn't make it far in the airwaves. There were a couple Salon stories, and some courageous sticktoitiveness from Buzzflash who kept it on the headlines for three days. But with the announcement that Barnes would appear on 60 Minutes to talk about it, this story will have to hit the front pages. If it does, look for the ad hominem attacks on Barnes to start echoing from a certain familiar sound chamber, and perhaps some forceful questioning from the press about the issue.
