It's Still the Economy Stupid!
Charleston, WV - As Vice President Cheney is set to visit West Virginia today to tout the Bush administration’s economic record, in steps reality. Today up to 250 West Virginia jobs have been added to the scrap heap of economic failure that follows in the Bush Administration’s wake. The Charleston Daily Mail announced that AT&T will be laying off up to 250 employees at their Charleston operation. AT&T is the third company to announce massive layoffs in the last three weeks.
This brings the three week job loss total to 935 jobs.
Bush Administration’s Out of Touch Response?
“I’m running again because I want to continue the economic growth we’re seeing now,” was the answer on August 29th in Wheeling.
Three days earlier 375 West Virginians learned they would become unemployed when the Mayflower Stamping announced cuts to its South Charleston manufacturing plant.
“Our economic plan is working,” was the answer on September 5th in Parkersburg.
Three days later Walker Systems announced that its Williamstown manufacturing plant will close after 40 years, taking more than 300 manufacturing jobs with it. 30% of the work previously done by West Virginians at Walker Systems will be shipped to Mexico.
“Our economy is growing at rates as fast as any in nearly 20 years,” was the answer on September 10th in Huntington.
Now three days later we learn 250 more West Virginians will become unemployed in the wake of layoffs at AT&T in Charleston.
Now That You’re Out of Credibility What do you Do? Blame Clinton!

George Bush and Dick Cheney have bungled the economy, their failed policies aren’t working, and as a result 935 more West Virginians won’t be working either.
