This is Strange...
Just two days after warnings of terrorist threats to the Financial Centers of the US were issued by the Bush administration, the National Park Service will reopen the Statue of Liberty to visitors. The monument to our Liberty (e.g. Freedom) has been closed since the September 11 attacks in New York and the Pentagon.
Which brings a curious question to mind: Why would the NSA think al Quaida plans to attack the Financial Centers any minute now, thereby invoking a significant response from the FBI, law enforcement and the CIA. Could it be, that this announcement served only two purposes. The first, to maintain the fear and paranoia in this country, thereby justifying further impairment of our Civil Liberties, and second assuring the population that this administration is in complete control and is in the best position to protect the US. I think the substance of the 9-11 Commission's report precludes the latter supposition. As to the former, let's just hope that I am not detained indefinitely for bloggin against the covert activities of the Bush administration. If my blog goes down, send the ACLU or Amnesty International to my cell at Guatanamo.
